How are my gardeners doing? Does fall feel like a welcomed reprieve from all the weeding, watering, and harvesting? Our garden in the front yard is on such a slope that even when I practice good body mechanics I stand up feeling uneven and sore.
Certain yoga postures open up the hips, allowing us to become better at squatting, a position that is essential to any gardener. Many of my fellow gardening clients say that since they've started incorporating massage and yoga into their lives their bodies are able to recover faster from long days bent over seedlings and bushes.
Before this chilly fall rain , Anthony built this little compost-keeper and we moved all of our compost and layered it with the fresh weeds that needed to come out before winter. It feels good to have some prep done for the next season, even if it is months away.
Take a few minutes to warm up before getting into your laborious activities on these colder days. And follow up with a few sun salutations to open up any areas that may haven become tight.
Not sure how to practice a sun salutation? A private 45 minute yoga session is a good way to start!
